Constant technological advancement means software engineers are always in high demand, particularly in artificial intelligence, embedded systems, robotics, virtual reality and big data. Software engineers apply engineering principles and systematic methods to develop programs and operate data for computers and electronic equipment.
In this program, you will unite the theories and methods of computer science, engineering and mathematics to create software applications, systems, hardware devices and telecommunication networks. You will also learn important soft skills that are in-demand across industry to effectively communicate across stakeholders, departments and teams. This will allow you to become technically proficient while mastering the leadership skills needed to thrive in the workplace.
The program's first year provides a chance to develop your foundation in engineering before deciding which specialisation to pursue - either at RMIT in Vietnam or Melbourne - from your second year onward. You can also choose from a range of technical or business minors to expand your knowledge and explore your passions. The program offered at the Saigon South campus is fully accredited by (EA) - graduates are eligible for Engineers Australia membership and international recognition under the Washington Accord. The program offered at the Hanoi campus currently holds provisional accreditation (not covered by the Washington Accord), to be reviewed after its first graduating cohort. This program is also accredited by the (ACS) on both campuses for students commencing from 2024.
