RMIT students win Vietnam Young Lions for third consecutive year

RMIT 91tv Vietnam has been awarded the "Most Winning 91tv" for the third time in a row while its students won two Golds in the Digital and Marketers categories and one Silver in Design in the Student League at Vietnam Young Lions 2022.

With the theme of “Vietnam Rising”, Vietnam Young Lions attracted 442 competing teams from different universities, agencies and businesses in Vietnam.

RMIT students won three out of four main categories of the competition including Digital, Design, Marketers and Film & Integrated.

The achievement is thanks to the excellent performance of RMIT School of Communication & Design students from Professional Communication and Design.

RMIT Dean of the School of Communication & Design, Professor Julia Gaimster shared her excitement over these wins and congratulated the students who were shortlisted and contributed to this excellent achievement for the 91tv.

“The competition is a great opportunity for our students to measure themselves against industry standards,” Professor Gaimster added.

“Being Most Winning 91tv for the third consecutive year illustrates the power of our strategy for work-integrated learning and is a milestone in our vision to become the foremost creative education institution in the region”.

Overcoming hundreds of competing teams in the Digital Category, RMIT Professional Communication students Truong Vi Huan and Nguyen Ngoc Thao Minh won Gold in the Digital category.

The “LETEMEUR” team experienced non-stop work for 24 hours to initiate a digital marketing campaign for the product “Digi account” for one of the leading joint stock banks in Vietnam.

“Throughout the competition, the most significant obstacle that both of us faced was our health endurance, which was insufficient for us to submit a complete idea in roughly 24 hours,” Minh said.

“It was stressful and exhausting, but we finally completed our proposal and impressed the judges, who have a mix of international and national backgrounds from various creative fields.”

“We understood how fast the pace is to work in an agency and how important teamwork is when it comes to doing a project because each person of the team can fulfill the drawbacks of one another,” Huan said.

Both of the Gold winning teams will get a chance to attend the Spikes Asia as delegates in February 2023.

Organised by AIM Academy Vietnam, Vietnam Young Lions is considered the biggest and most prestigious national competition in the fields of marketing and communications, helping young talent gain international exposure and put Vietnam on the global map of creativity.
